The Bearded Broker

The truth is, I never set out to become “The Bearded Broker”.

At some point, clients started calling me it.

Then local businesses started calling me it.

Then people started introducing me that way.

Before long, it had stuck.

Fortunately, there weren’t too many other mortgage advisers in East Lothian wandering around with a beard.

These days, plenty of people know me as The Bearded Broker, but what matters most to me isn’t the nickname.

It’s the trust behind it.

I’m a Mortgage Adviser at The Stisi Group and for many years I’ve helped people navigate some of life’s biggest financial decisions, whether that’s buying a first home, moving house, remortgaging, or making sure their family would be financially secure if something unexpected happened.

The mortgage industry has a habit of making simple things sound complicated.

I’ve always tried to do the opposite.

No jargon.

No unnecessary complexity.

No pretending a mortgage adviser is more important than they really are.

Just straightforward advice, honest conversations and a genuine desire to help people make good decisions.

THE BEARD GETS REMEMBERED. THE ADVICE GETS REFERRED

Let’s be honest.

The beard helps.

People remember it.

People mention it.

People recognise me at football.

People stop me at local events.

People send messages saying:

“I think I just saw The Bearded Broker.”

But nobody recommends me to their friends because I have a beard.

People recommend me because they trust me.

Because I answer the phone.

Because I explain things properly.

Because I tell people what they need to hear, not always what they want to hear.

Because I don’t disappear once the mortgage completes.

The beard might start the conversation.

The service is what keeps it going.
